Frosted Lime Dessert

This week on pandagrub we are going to be making frosted lime milk shakes. I found out about the frosted lime from the 'daily dish' article in the LA Times

The panda in the picture above is named Hello Panda. Hello Panda is sitting with the ingredients for the frosted lime. The ingredients are the juice of two limes, vanilla ice cream, and sparkling mineral water.

Hello Panda is working hard to scoop the vanilla ice cream!

Hello Panda just finished scooping four scoops of vanilla ice cream in the blender. ( You should use at least two scoops of ice cream for each shake.) She also added one cup of sparkling water.

Make sure that you don't forget to add the juice of one lime.

Blend until smooth. Then add whipped cream on top. For the whipped cream recipe click here. Hello Panda thought that the milk shakes were very creamy and had a strong lime flavor. She loved them.

Don't the milk shakes look delicious? They taste as good as they look!

Restaurant Review: Guppy House

This week on pandagrub we are going to be doing a restaurant review on  Guppy House. We went to the Guppy House in Irvine. Guppy House has four locations. There is also a Guppy House in Diamond Bar, Hacienda Heights, Cerritos, and Anaheim.

The panda in the picture above is named Dim Sum. Dim Sum is very excited to be going to Guppy House! He heard about Guppy House on SGVFoodie.

Dim Sum is sitting with my mom's dish. My mom ordered the popcorn chicken salad. She thought that it was good because it was very fresh. She especially enjoyed the chicken because it was fried to "perfection".

Now Dim Sum is perching on my dad's dish. My dad ordered the popcorn chicken with rice. My dad thought that his dish was  satisfying because of the portion size. He also enjoyed the raisins in the potato salad.

Dim Sum is very excited to try my brother's dish. He ordered the beef porridge. He thought that it was very delicious because the beef was very tender.

Dim Sum is now sitting with the last main course of the day. He is sitting with my dish. I ordered the dumpling soup. I didn't like the dumplings because there was too much filling inside each dumpling. Instead of eating the dumpling I drank the veal broth. The veal broth was good because it had a lot of flavor and it had the perfect amount of seasoning.

Finally it is dessert time! Dim Sum is very excited to eat the dark chocolate brick toast. He is so excited that his mouth is watering!

Dim Sum loved the brick toast because it was very chocolately and it had the perfect amount of sweetness. He almost finished the whole plate! Dim Sum left no dessert for us.:(

For Mother's Day, Dim Sum and I gave my mom some flowers. Dim Sum has made a home in one of the orange tulips.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Potato Tacos

This week on pandagrub we are going to be making potato tacos. The tacos are going to be served with fresh guacamole, cheese, and tomatoes.

The panda in the picture above is named Eddie. Eddie is sitting with the ingredients for the potato tacos. The ingredients are white flour tortillas and unpeeled red skin potatoes.

Now Eddie is sitting with the ingredients for the guacamole. The ingredients for the guacamole are the juice of one lime, one avocado, two tomatoes, and three Korean peppers.

Eddie is sitting with the mashed potatoes for the potato tacos. We made our own mashed potatoes. Here is the recipe:

1. Wash the potatoes. (You don't have to peel them. The skins are edible.)
2. Cut the raw potatoes into quarters.
3. Boil in a pot for 15-20 minutes.
4. Mash with a fork until creamy (or a bit lumpy).
5.Season with salt and pepper.
6. Eat!

Now it is time to make our fresh guacamole. Here is the recipe:
1. Peel and pit the avocados.
2. Slice the tomatoes.
3. Cut the Korean peppers into halves.
4.  Put the avocados, tomatoes, and Korean peppers into the food processor.
5. Squeeze in the food processor  the juice of one lime.
6. Season with salt.
7. Puree and serve.

Here is what the guacamole should look like when you finish pureeing it.

Now it's time to start making the potato tacos! First put about 3 tablespoons of the mashed potatoes in the tortilla.

Next drizzle some oil on your frying pan. After the oil is sizzling put the potato taco in the pan. Then place your tongs on one side of the tortilla.(Don't fold the tortilla, or it will rip.) After about 20 seconds lift the tongs off of the tortilla and let the taco fry until it reaches a golden brown. You should fry the tacos for about three minutes on each side.

After frying the tacos get your toppings ready. For our topping we have picked fresh guacamole, diced tomatoes, and shredded cheddar cheese.

Now it is finally time to eat the tacos. Make sure to add the toppings while the tacos are hot so you can eat the tacos right away. Eddie is very excited to eat the tacos!

Now Eddie is sitting with a nice, cold Mexican coke. Mexican coke is his favorite drink, and it goes perfectly with potato tacos.

This taco is so good, it's indescribable. I hope you can try this easy recipe at home. Eddie is a special panda because he speaks Spanish and English. He says: "Me gustan tacos de papas!"*
Translation: I love potato tacos!
